Good Things: Charlie's Soap All Purpose Cleaner

a.k.a. "the post in which I talk about baby poop." You've been forewarned.



I have a few favorite household products. Goo Gone. Vinegar and water. But Charlie's Soap All Purpose Cleaner pretty much takes the cake. I was first introduced to Charlie's Soap when we started cloth diapering. Their Laundry Liquid does not leave residue on fabric like most detergents, which causes cloth diapers to become less absorbent, so it became our primary detergent. No dyes or fragrances. Non-toxic. Biodegradable. And you only use about 1/8 cup per load. It's awesome.

But back to the All Purpose Cleaner. One day I discovered some weird staining on some of our clothes. Turns out it was crayon. I contacted the Charlie's Soap guys and they suggested trying the All Purpose Cleaner. I've never looked back.

Allow me to dazzle you.

This is a common occurrence in our home, especially when my son is wearing a diaper that is arguably too small for him.

When this happens I give the bodysuit a decent rinse in the sink, though yellow discoloration remains, and then I spray both sides of the fabric with All Purpose Cleaner and leave it in the laundry room until I get around to doing laundry next. I've found that the All Purpose Cleaner actually does a better job if you can leave it sit on the item for a day or more before washing.

In the case of whites, I throw in some vinegar with the detergent and give it a wash on warm. I don't use bleach.

I kid you not. I put a pin on the bodysuit to make sure that the one I pulled out was the exact one that you saw soiled in the first two photos. And it doesn't just work it's magic on whites. I use it on everything. I've gotten bike grease out of a pant leg, grass stains. I even use it to mop my floors. Charlie's Soap All Purpose Cleaner is a beautiful thing.
