This post is for my aunt Nan, because I am pretty sure she reads my blog and because she gave us an awesome gift--the Cuisinart 2-quart Ice Cream, Sorbet, and Frozen Yogurt Maker. Never has so much cream and whole milk been purchased in this household but, oh my! It's good and so easy.
In August we all gathered to celebrate my grandfather's 90th birthday. The ice cream maker was purchased for this event with the intention of having us all chip in a couple bucks for a raffle ticket to win the ice cream maker. As we drove home my husband said, "Oh man, we should have slipped your aunt Nan two bucks for the raffle because we totally would have won. I don't think anyone else bought in."
Turns out, no one did, we basically forgot to do the raffle and the ice cream maker was left for either my sister or I to have because no one was going to take it on a plane. I think there was some sort of sharing agreement reached with my sister, but I'm not sure we're going to be willing to give it up.
Our concoctions to date:
-Vanilla Custard
-Vanilla Ice Cream with malt powder and home-grown raspberries
-Chocolate Chip Frozen Yogurt
-Chocolate Ice Cream
-Vanilla Ice Cream with Heath bar chunks
-Chocolate Caramel Ice Cream (using hot cocoa packets)
-Strawberry Ice Cream
